Assoc. Prof. Dr. Oğuz Kağan Köksal completed his undergraduate education on July 22, 2008, at Balıkesir University, Necatibey Faculty of Education, Department of Physics Education. He began his academic career in December 2010 at Karadeniz Technical University (KTU), Institute of Natural Sciences, Department of Physics, Division of Atomic and Molecular Physics, and was appointed as a Research Assistant under Article 50/d of Law No. 2547 during the same period.

In order to enhance his international academic experience during his master’s studies, he continued his education at Lund University, Department of Physics (Sweden) between 16 August 2011 and 18 January 2012 with an LLP ERASMUS Student Exchange Program scholarship. During this period, he successfully completed a PhD-level course in Atomic and Molecular Spectroscopy under Prof. Dr. Sune Svanberg, who had served as Chair and member of the Nobel Committee for Physics. Within this scope, he conducted experiments on Fourier Transform Spectroscopy, High-Resolution Laser Spectroscopy, and Level-Transition Spectroscopy. Additionally, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Joachim Schnadt, he completed a course in Atomic and Molecular Physics, further strengthening his experimental expertise through Diode Laser Spectroscopy, Two-Electron Systems, and Zeeman Effect experiments.

After returning to Türkiye, he successfully completed his master’s degree with thesis on January 15, 2013, at KTU Institute of Natural Sciences, Department of Physics, Division of Atomic and Molecular Physics. Within the scope of his doctoral studies, he carried out scientific research published in SCI-indexed journals as part of an Erasmus+ Internship Mobility at AGH University of Science and Technology (Krakow, Poland) between 01 June 2015 and 31 July 2015, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Marek Lankosz. He later continued his doctoral thesis studies at the same university between 04 October 2017 and 31 December 2017. He successfully completed his PhD dissertation with High Honors on January 17, 2019.

Between 06 December 2010 and 04 February 2019, he served as a Research Assistant at Karadeniz Technical University. As of 09 January 2020, he began working as an Assistant Professor (Dr. Öğr. Üyesi) in the Department of Electricity and Energy, Gölbaşı Vocational School, Adıyaman University. Between 06 July 2020 and 31 December 2024, he was assigned to the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, under Article 13/b-4 of Law No. 2547. As of 31 December 2024, he continues his duties again at the Gölbaşı Vocational School, Department of Electricity and Energy.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Köksal has 15 articles published in SCI and SCI-Expanded journals and 10 articles in other international journals, totaling 25 scientific articles. He has also authored 27 national and international conference proceedings and two international book chapters.

He has served as principal investigator, researcher, advisor, and scholarship holder in projects supported by TÜBİTAK 3001, TÜBİTAK 2209-A, Erasmus+ KA131, KTU BAP, and various COST projects. He has also taken part in TÜBİTAK panels as a panelist and referee, and has performed dozens of peer-review duties for SCI and other indexed journals. Within the scope of public engagement, he has contributed to numerous TÜBİTAK Science Talks, as well as undertaking scientific evaluation roles in symposia and conferences.

His administrative duties include Deputy Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Erasmus+ Departmental Coordinator, Academic Advisor of IEEE Adıyaman Student Branch, and Deputy Director of the Astrophysics Application and Research Center. He has also served on TEKNOFEST juries and evaluation boards.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Köksal is an active member of international academic networks, including the Swedish Alumni Network Türkiye, European X-Ray Spectrometry Association, European Radiation Research Society, and GXARG (within the framework of Karadeniz Technical University).

He was awarded the title of Associate Professor in Physics by the Interuniversity Board of Türkiye on February 23, 2024.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Oğuz Kağan Köksal is married and the father of two daughters, and has a good command of English.
