Abdurrahman Özbeyaz received his bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from Erciyes University in 2005, his master’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University in 2010, and his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Çukurova University in 2015.
His master’s thesis, titled “Classification of EMG and EEG Signals Using Least Squares Support Vector Machines Based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) Algorithm”, was supervised by Prof. Dr. Mahmut Kemal Kıymık. His doctoral thesis, titled “Analysis and Classification of Event-Related Potentials Obtained in Response to Recognized and Unrecognized Face Stimuli”, was supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sami Arıca.
Before 2007, he worked as a computer engineer in various software companies in the private sector. He served as a Computer Engineer at the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) XVth Regional Office between November 2007 and November 2008, and as a Lecturer in the Computer Programming departments at Adıyaman University between November 2008 and March 2012.
Between March 2012 and January 2016, he served as the Director, Branch Manager, and Computer Engineer within the Information Technologies Department of Adıyaman University. From January 2016 to October 2022, he worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Adıyaman University, and since October 2022, he has been serving in the same department as an Associate Professor. He also served as the Head of the Department between November 2022 and November 2025. He currently serves as the Head of the Telecommunications Division in the same department.
Since November 2024, he has also been serving as the Deputy Director of the Graduate Education Institute at Adıyaman University.
Within the scope of academic mobility activities, he participated in ERASMUS Teaching Mobility programs at the University of Debrecen (Hungary) in the Department of Computer Engineering in 2010, and at the Polytechnic Institute of Portugal in the Department of Biomedical Engineering in 2016.
Supported by the TÜBİTAK 2219 International Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Program, he worked as a visiting researcher at the University of Surrey, United Kingdom, in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing (CVSSP) between July 2021 and April 2022.
His academic research interests broadly include Optimization Algorithms, Digital Image Processing, Biomedical Signal Processing, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Deep Learning–based intelligent computational methods.
