He was born in Adana in 1969. He completed Adana Anatolian High School in 1988, undergraduate (Çukurova University) in 1992, Master's (Çukurova University) in 1995 and PhD (Çukurova University) in 2001.
In 1993, at Çukurova University, Institute of Science, he started his career as Res. Assistant. In 2001, he has been assigned as Asst.Prof.Dr. in Çukurova University. In 2002-2003, Yüzüncü Yıl University Geology Engineering.
Assistant Professor in the Department (40-B assignment). He worked as an Asst.Prof.Dr in Soil and Archaeometry Departments at Çukurova University in 2004-2008. In 2008, he began to work at
Adıyaman Vocational School of Architecture and Decorative Arts, Ceramics, Glass and Tile Department as a Asst.Prof.Dr. In 2009, he taught as a visiting lecturer at the University of Tokyo.
In 2011, he received the title of associate professor in the fields of Soil and Archaeometry. Prof. Dr. The title was given by Adıyaman University on June 2, 2017.
He conducted mineralogy, ceramics and micromorphology studies in Germany, England and Scotland with the British Council and International Association of Technical Trainee Exchange (IAESTE) scholarships.
He worked as an executive or assistant researcher in nearly 50 projects supported by NATO, European Union, International Humanity and Nature Research Institute (Japan), British Cultural Delegation, TÜBİTAK, Mitsui Environmental Fund, GAP Administration, Çukurova, Adıyaman and Yüzüncü Yıl Universities.
Taking part in 20 master's and 7 doctoral juries, Prof.Dr. Erhan Akça is the Scientific Board Consultant of TEMA Foundation. Dr. Erhan Akça took part in the scientific board and organizing committee of 25 national and international seminars, workshops, congresses and conferences.

It published over 200 Turkish, English, Japanese and Italian languages, including 35 SCIs, and received over 1700 references.

He has been working as the Head of the Handicrafts Department at Adıyaman University Vocational School since of 08.01.2013.
